Orwell says that this experience taught him that “when the white man turns tyrant it is his own freedom that he destroys.” In what ways did his role as a colonial policeman end his freedom?

Orwell's time as a policemen affects his sense of freedom because he is unable to move without being watched, judged, and taunted. The people resent the presence of the policemen, and they do everything they can undermine their authority.

What does the crowd do after Orwell leaves?
