Love is a minor theme in the play, but its most important place within the play is the way in which Marlowe conceives love. He believes himself unable to have a loving relationship with someone of his own class and prefers barmaids or women he doesn't necessarily have to commit to. Kate changes all this by morphing between the different levels of the class system and proving him wrong.
