What prevents Marianne from acknowledging Edward's good points?

Marianne critiques her sisters interest in Edward by saying "He admires as a lover, not a connoisseur."

I think Marianne is very much like the character of Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice. She is rational and critical to the point of not seeing the good in suitors like Edward.
