Rats and vermin are how the Nazis felt about Jews during this time. Hitler had a major case of ethnic cleansing going on because of his rather twisted ideas about Jews and anti-Semitism. Interestingly Art Spiegelman personifies Jews as vermin in his famous graphic novel MAUS (1991)
