Schindler's List

Schindler's List

At one point in the film, Schindler says " My father once told me that all you need is 3 things in life:a good doctor,a forgiving priest and a cleaver accountant." What did he mean by that? Do you agree or disagree?

Early in the novel and the film, Schindler is far more concerned with lining his pockets than he is a humanitarian. I believe that even he would tell you he was wrong in this assessment after his involvement with helping the Jews to escape. A doctor would help to keep you healthy, a priest would assauge your guilt, and an accountant would keep your finances in order. In the end, Schindler gave up everything for others. Possibly, his father's advice gave him the means to do so.
