Samson Agonistes


  • On 14 December 2008 BBC Radio 3 broadcast a production of the play as part of its commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Milton's birth, adapted for radio and directed by John Tydeman. Samson was played by Iain Glen, Manoa by David de Keyser, Dalila by Samantha Bond, Harapha by Philip Madoc, Public Officer by Matthew Morgan, Messenger by Michael Maloney and the Chorus by Tim Bentinck, Simon Treves and Sean Barrett.
  • The oratorio Samson (Handel) is based on Milton's poem.
  • On 20 Nov 2011, the play was performed as part of the CripSlam series at Victory Gardens in Chicago and on 17 November 2011 at the University of Notre Dame. It was directed by Todd Bauer, who is blind, and performed by drama students from the University of Notre Dame. The play was edited and produced by Essaka Joshua.
