Why does Esch keep comparing herself to mythological figures?

Prone to daydreaming, Esch is obsessed with Greek myths and uses them to make sense of her world, obsessively comparing herself to the sorceress Medea. I think that growing up around men and boys all her life causes her to search for matriarchal strength figures for comfort and identity.
