Rosemary's abdominal pain?

What was causing Rosemary's severe abdominal pain at the beginning of her pregnancy and why did it end so abruptly when she was getting ready to get a second opinion?

Rosemary tells Guy she's been experiencing a sharp pain since Monday, and at her Wednesday visit with Sapirstein, the doctor assures her that it's a "natural expansion of the pelvis," and openly scoffs at her suggestion that it might have been an ectopic pregnancy.
