Romeo and Juliet

Why is it ironic that Romeo compares Juliet to "a snowy dove trooping with crows" when he first sees her at the party?

Romeo obvious and immediate infatuation is ironic because only moments beforehand he was bemoaning his unrequited love for Rosaline.
