Romeo and Juliet

Why does Juliet's joy suddenly turn to despair? How does tension/suspense build in this scene?

This is on Act 3, scene 2

Juliet's joy turns to despair because she mistakenly believes that Romeo has been killed, and Nurse will not share what she knows. Nurse's refusal to share details leaves Juliet believing the worst.... and Nurse does not alleviate her fears. Thus, the scene escalates.
