There are of course many themes that you can consider. I think that the archetypal romantic love of youth is the central theme of the story. Romeo and Juliet personify this type of love. They are impulsive, reckless, and passionate with their desire for each other. This rashness and lack of constraint is the tragic flaw shared by both characters. In the end, their love without judgment leads to the untimely deaths of both of them.
