In Act II, Scene III, Friar Laurence notes that both plants and people have good qualities, and that anything good, if abused, can become evil. This warning foreshadows the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.... the good the potion was supposed to do by allowing her escape to be with the man she loved..... as well as the evil, which Romeo uses to end his own life.
