Romeo and Juliet

Does Mercutio's idea of love mock Romeo's idea of love?

Can you please provide evidence.

Mercutio doesn't understand Romeo's love, and thus, he makes light of it. In fact, Mercutio even makes fun of Romeo's feelings on purpose.... trying to shake him out of his romantic stupor. This is particularly apparent when Romeo is wandering around and hiding from his friends after his first meeting with Juliet. Mercutio uses his previous obsession with Rosaline to underscore his newfound feelings.

I conjure thee by Rosaline’s bright eyes,
By her high forehead and her scarlet lip,
By her fine foot, straight leg and quivering thigh
And the demesnes that there adjacent lie,
That in thy likeness thou appear to us!
