Romeo blames himself for Mercutio's death. After Mercutio challenged Tybalt to a duel, he drew his sword and attacked Mercutio. Romeo, however, attempted to intervene, holding Mercutio back. While Romeo was restraining Mercutio, Tybalt stabbed him.
