Act 2

Both Friar Lawrence and the Nurse want to see a union between the two. They take on the role of mentor and friend hoping that they can change the doomed relationship into something celebrated and accepted. Trying to help R &J inevitably changes lost love to tragedy. Unfortunately the friar's plan is somewhat inept and the series of events leads to what is foreshadowed throughout the play: this union will end tragically.
