How does this compare with the original text ?

Of course the director Baz Luhrmann takes some artistic license in his very hip reboot of R & J. The film is about 2 hours long so there are scenes from the play taken out. There are also scenes in different places than the play for continuity and flow. Other than that, it is faithful for the most part to Shakespeare's epic coming of age tale.
