Romeo suddenly loves Tybalt because of his familial relationship to Juliet (cousin). Romeo is basking in his marriage.... he's happy. The bickering between Tybalt and Mercutio is at that moment a mere shadow. Mercutio finds Romeo's "love" to be dishonorable and vile.
