Hammer challenges adversity head on. Where others think before they act, particularly in regard to actions that might cause repercussions, Hammer simply takes on the challenge and addresses it. Examples of this would be his immediate desire to confront Mr. Simms, and his blatant refusal to acknowledge the racially unfair protocol of the bridge.
