Why does Papa tell the children not to go near the Wallace store?
Papa tells the children to stay away from the Wallace store. People drink and smoke at the Wallace store. Some people at the store are mean to black people.
The Wallaces are bad people. They cheat the blacks. Fights go on. Drinking goes on. There's nothing but trouble there.
