Mr. Wade Jamison is a lawyer whose family was originally from Vicksburg, he inherited land that had once belonged to the Grangers from his father and sold it to Paul Edward Logan in 1918. He is sympathetic to the black farmers and offers them credit if they boycott the Wallace store and shop in Vicksburg. Granger is the racist owner of the store in town. He wants the land the Logans bought from Jamison's father.
