What does T.J. mean when he says that Cassie is “Uncle Tomming” Lillian Jean?

Cassie’s family knows that, like many white children, Lillian Jean can be dangerous. Cassie had to be nice to her. To "Uncle Tom" someone is an allusion to the book Uncle Tom's cabin where blacks, like uncle Tom, worked hard to appease their white masters.
