how is cassie affected by going to a segregated school

I don't think Cassie really knows anything different. She sees the inequity between white and black students every day. They often get splashed by the white school bus on their long walk to school. I don't think Cassie was angry, nothing would come of her anger. Things were the way they were. Mama made sure Cassie worked hard in black school and got the best education she could.
