Describe Cassie. What is her personality like? What is her attitude toward school, and why do you think she has this attitude?

Cassie is very smart, self-assured, and outspoken. Cassie dreads the first day of school (who doesn't) because she'd rather play outside and dress comfortably. Unfortunately, Mama says the children must wear their Sunday clothing. I believe Cassie enjoys school, and has learned the value of education from her mother. She doesn't, however, appreciate the fact that her school only gets new supplies when the white school replaces their own. Cassie has a strong sense of justice, and even as a child, realizes the inequality between herself and the white children from the other school.
