Taylor's word choice illustrates the difficulty Big Ma had in telling Cassie she had to apologize for something she "didn't" do wrong. Big Ma had diffuculty with the words.... her voice cracked because she had to choke them out, say something she didn't want to say, simply to avoid trouble.
