I think a major theme of Crusoe's adventure surrounds his religious conversion. Crusoe learns that he is not so much rebelling from his father but God himself. He becomes this Prodigal-Son figure who realizes that his father meant well and he was out of line being so proud and sure of himself. He realizes that he needs God's wisdom to guide him and that alone, he is simply lost.
