What does the text have to do with the blues?

The novel itself covers the musical career of a band of Indians from the Spokane Reservation. The group played both rock and the blues. I believe this story is a spinoff of Alexie's short-stories from the The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven collection.
