The Fog Horn

What does McDunn say that the creature is doing when it comes to the surface? Why might the creature be attracted to the sound of the foghorn?

McDunn says the creature is drawn towards the sound. The foghorn speaks a primordial "language" of the sea. It is a sound that touches the emotions of the most primitive of species that have survived eons before human beings evolved on this planet.
