What is Eliza really upset about? When has this problem been mentioned beforw?

Eliza is upset about having the rest of her life controlled. She doesn't want to be shaped but anybody anymore. She doesn't want to be married off but the tokens of her control (like the ring) still hold meaning for her. I think this paradox has always been in her mind since she entered the "experiment".
