Pygmalion

what does the following quote mean (explain)?

LIZA. Oh! if I only COULD go back to my flower basket! I should be independent of both you and father and all the world! Why did you take my independence from me? Why did I give it up? I'm a slave now, for all my fine clothes. (5.231)

Liza hates being dependent on Higgins. She does not know what to do with her new "identity" and wishes for the days where she could be herself”: a poor flower girl but free of manipulation and fakery.
