Pygmalion

The characters are not identified by name when the play opens. Does this help in any way? What would be the purpose of the dramatist in doing this?

Is it related to the class distinction of that time ?

I think this gives us a sense of their actions and motives before actually giving us an identity. The reader can examine their personalities before placing them as active characters in the story.
