On the other side of the pillar is a man taking notes, every word the flower girl says. Who tells the flower girl? What is a “copper’s nark?” (Act 1)

A bystander warns Eliza the man is taking notes. A copper's nark is an police informant.

THE BYSTANDER [to the girl] You be careful: give him a flower for it. There's a bloke here behind taking down every blessed word you're saying. [All turn to the man who is taking notes].
