Is a ?????It is somewhat ironic that she thinks he is copying her words because she thinks they might get her in trouble; he might be working for the police and perhaps there is something improper in the words she is using. It could also be called paradoxical because he is, in fact, copying down exactly what she is saying, but he could not care less about the words themselves. His only concern is her pronunication which then tells him certain information about her life and upbringing.
