Why did sergeant Hanley dislike Charlie so much?

Hanley expects conformity and instantly takes a disliking to Charlie, because Charlie refuses to “jump through hoops” for Hanley like the other men do. Charlie stands up to Hanley telling him what he thinks of his often bizarre and ridiculous orders.
