I think Charlotte felt that she was being practical. Women in that era had to get married. Family reputation, wealth, and her personal survival depended on marriage. Mr. Collins seemed the best of a mediocre lot, especially economical, of men she could choose from. She had a slight liking for him, which was enough for her.
