Elizabeth does not want to wind up in a marriage like her parents'. Her parents disagree on practically everything and have absolutely nothing in common. Mrs. Bennett is a silly creature, which is probably why Elizabeth goes out of her way to think things through and control her own life. She has the perfect example of what she DOESN'T want her own marriage to be like: her own parents' marriage.
