How convincing is Mr. Bennet's resolution to be a stricter father?

Based upon Lydia's behavior and Mr. Bennet's stricter stance with Lydia, I believe he did become a stricter parent. I think the point came when he realized that his wife could not handle the girls and was too apt to coddle them. He had to put his foot down, they girls were running rampant. I think he learned a huge lesson based upon Lydia's behavior.
