Pride and Prejudice

Elisabeth represent a new type of female; in other respects she seem quite conventional. Could you explain this?

Certainly Elizabeth demands more from her male suitors than other women might. She demands sicerity and honesty. She demands good manners and humility. At the same time she must marry and try to marry as "well" (money) as she can. Elizabeth is interested in romance and gossip like most other women in this book.
