How does Elizabeth respond to Mr. Collins’s proposal? What does her response reveal about her character?

Mr. Collin's proposal was more like a business proposal than a romantic proposal. Elizabeth is also the least likely of all the sisters to accept both Collins and his awkward request. Elizabeth of course politely refuses. The subtext of her answer is something like "I’d rather jump off a cliff". Elizabeth is not interested in stilted business proposals from men who view her as an economic liability.
