Would the novel still be popular if Jane was the heroine?

It really depends on what sort of character Jane would be. If she were like Elizabeth, perhaps it would be similar. Jane would have to follow a similar dynamic.

Then what if Jane still has the same character but as a heroine? Do you think readers would love it? Or will they get board and put the novel down?
