Madeleine Albright is a well known diplomat and the first woman to have attained the position of United States Secretary of State, having been nominated and successfully appointed by Bill Clinton. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom by president Obama and serves as a director for Council on Foreign Relations.

Prague Winter or Prague Winter: A Personal Story of Remembrance and War, 1937–1948 is an autobiographical book from Albright's perspective. This phenomenal work was initially published in 2012 and tells the story of Nazi invasion in Prague as witnessed by a 12 year-old.

This book chronicles her childhood life and experiences in this tragic period in history. It explores a myriad of themes including war and the resilience of a person at the face of such adversity.
