story the gold bug

The story takes place in South Carolina on Sullivan Island. William Lagrand is bitten by a gold bug. Fearing that Legrand is going insane, Jupiter (Legrand’s servant) seeks out the narrator who happens to be his master’s old friend. Legrand subsequently draws the two into a treasure hunt. The protagonist of the story is the narrator. We never find out the name of the narrator but apparently he is reliable. This is funny because so many of his protagonists are insane!
