5. how does the setting contribute to the horror of the story?

contrast the story in the beginning of the story with the setting where Montressor takes Frontunato.
from the story: "Cask of Amontillado"

There is a big carnival going on. Everybody is making merry. There are fireworks, music and crowds. Montressor takes Frontunato down to the caverns/catacombs where the dead are buried. It is a dark and lonely place. Where there is much life above ground, there is only death below.
