Does the character of Grenouille transform throughout the book or does his view on life, and aptitude towards others remain the same?

-Usually in many novels, the main character transformsm either mentally, physically or psychologically. I understand Grenouille's main purpose in his life was to create this "ultimate" perfume, but other than learning the tricks in the art of perfumery, does he gain an understanding of life and does his personality change?

What are the different types of motivation Grenouille has throughout the novel?

Few motivations I believe is the scent of the red-head plum scented girl, and as well as his fascination of having a talent that noone else possesses. Anything else?
