Gladwell states that communities and companies in American society “are convinced that those at the very top of the IQ scale have the greatest potential.” After reading the chapter, explain why you either agree or disagree with this statement.

By leading readers into a trap, high IQ =success, Gladwell enables readers to understand Terman's perspective and, indeed, to share Terman's sense of surprise at the poor correlation between IQ and achievement. We, perhaps, feel the same "more than a touch of disappointment" (90) that the disillusioned Terman experienced. I think there is so much more to "success" than a high IQ. Internal drive and passion make up most of the ingredients that lead to what society might define as success.
