Wealthy and middle-class parents tend to take a more active interest in their child’s academic and extra-curricular pursuits. They also have the ability to financially support their child through both academic and non-academic goals. Lower working-class parents are trying to financially survive and seem to value education and other pursuits less that their wealthier counterparts. They also take less of an interest in their child's education. These of course are just generalizations.
