 Iago is young and treacherous; he is a villain from the start.Iago mentions the devil many times in the text, beginning in the first scene. We discover that, as the play moves on, Iago is a manipulating devil himself. In the first scene Iago continues to manipulate Roderigo even after Desdimona has married Othello. We know Iago will continue to be a manipulating evil force throughout the play.
