Emilia is one of Shakespeare's stronger female characters. She not only gives us insight to Iago, we understand how he treats the women who are close to him. She lures the truth out of Iago, a man that would surely punish or kill her because of it. She stands up for her Desdemona against Othello, another man who could easily kill her.
