Iago appeals to Roderigo's obsessive desire for Desdemona to hatch his plan against Othello. Iago convinces the hapless Roderigo that Othello is merely a passing fancy to Desdemona and that, with his help, Desdemona will fall wildly in love with Roderigo. Roderigo actually receives nothing but a disgraced death following his attempt on Cassio's life.
