How do both Crake and Jimmy react differently to moments of tension ? what can be assumed is Atwood’s intent through these portrayals

Jimmy reacts to tension the way most rational people would. He gets upset, he wants to be alone, and he ruminates about the problem. Crake remains detached and deals with tension within the realm of his apocalyptic vision of the future.
