Aphra Behn- Oroonoko
Answers 1Add Yours
Behn describes Oroonoko in the context of white heroes of the time. Behn is careful to separate him from traditional African male features. She notes his difference in skin color is not the “brown, rusty black which most of that nation are,” but a “perfect ebony or polished jet.” She endows Oroonoko with European physical qualities, such as his nose, to make him a more heroic figure.
